Abstract:
For serving time-varying traffic on an Elastic Optical Network (EON), the spectrum allocated for the connection request can be expanded or contracted to meet the traffic requirement. For the survival connection, both the primary and the backup lightpaths should be expanded/contracted at the same time. In this paper, the Spectrum Expansion/ Contraction (SEC) and Survival Routing and Spectrum Allocation (SRSA) problems on EONs with time-varying traffic for the dynamic case are studied. For each protecting scheme, two survival routing algorithms and the respective SEC operation are developed to solve it. These algorithms are examined through simulations and the results show that the proposed algorithms can achieve good results.
