Abstract:
Using off-the-shelf photonic computer-aided design tool VPIphotonics Design Suite, a detailed analysis of optical-frequency-comb-based fiber to millimeter-band wireless interface in actual base station for emerging 5G access networks of fiber-wireless architecture was carried out. The simulation experiments to study fiber transmission of 1.25-Gbit/s, 64-QAM signals in the bandwidth 37-43.5 GHz predict that the needed transmission quality is supported at a distance of optical cable between Central Office and Base Station up to 40 km, which is quite acceptable for an access network.
