Abstract:
As climate change continues to accelerate, its impacts on both the environment and human life are becoming increasingly severe. Recent advancements in AI and High-Performance Data Analytics (HPDA) are emerging as essential tools for addressing these challenges. This paper explores their application in tackling issues related to climate change, focusing on two distinct use cases: urban solar exposure and wildfire management. For urban areas, we use neural networks to predict shading effects between buildings, aiding in sustainable urban planning. In wildfire management, pre-computed wildfire simulations are utilized to help design preventive measures against massive wildfires and to respond to new fires. Through these use cases, we aim to highlight how AI and HPDA can be invaluable tools in the fight against global challenges.
