Abstract:
There is a controversial debate about the effects of the promotion of renewable energy and electric power sector reforms on electricity prices. This paper explores the impact of renewable energies and other environmental and economic variables on electricity prices in Spain. However, information available regarding renewable energies is scarce so when trying to estimate the electricity price model through regression procedures a dimensionality problem arises. Therefore we use a Maximum Entropy Econometric approach which allows estimating models when information is limited.
