Abstract:
Effectiveness and power consumption is becoming a major problem in high-performance computing. Numbers of researchers are working on methodologies in order to increase efficiency of these systems on hardware and software levels. Several “green” technologies are explained in this paper along with their pros and cons, with the aim of improving the power efficiency for high performance computers and cloud computing systems. Many of the aspects of green HPC are still in their initial stages, so this paper analyzes recent contributions in that respect, and proposes related work for every “green” improvement of HPC systems. It gives detailed blueprints for the Green HPC using state-of-the-art technologies from this field of research.
