Abstract:
The paper describes a new direction towards supporting a continuity of care by using the more natural and expressive paradigm of digital ecosystems. We introduce the conceptual model and architecture of the Digital Healthcare Ecosystem focusing on the reflection of the real to the virtual in healthcare followed by a “contamination” of the virtual in the real. We also propose a nature-inspired, agent-based approach to an adaptive mechanism supporting the evolution of the e-health services in the ecosystem. The mechanism is based on aggregation, migration and selection strategies inspired from biomimicry and distributed evolutionary computing.
