Abstract:
Distribution utilities engaged in the operationalization of more “resilient, adaptable architectures” have begun to instantiate amalgams of broadband, narrowband, and hybridizing techniques (e.g., spread spectrum, among others) to bridge the gap between broadband and narrowband (e.g., by enhancing the resiliency of narrowband signals) by lowering power requirements while extending coverage so as to develop a more robust communication network; this more resilient communications paradigm better facilitates “expeditious outage response capabilities.” This paper presents such an architectural instantiation.
