Application of Change-Point Detection in Image Retrieval

Abstract:
In this paper, we approach the image retrieval problem from a different angle by converting the problem into a change-point detection problem. An algorithm is introduced for detecting multiple change-points in distributions of a sequence of independently distributed random variables. By using this algorithm, a procedure is given for image retrieval. The proposed method is evaluated via two examples, which show that the proposed method for the image retrieval has satisfactory performance in terms of the quality of the retrieved images.
