Electric Vehicle Charging Locations for Uber in New York City

Abstract:
Electrification is widely considered an attractive solution for reducing the oil dependency and environmental impact of road transportation. This paper examines the viability of the current charging stations with the assistance of taxi service strategy optimization. We study charging station data along with ride pickup data. Our methodology is to model the pickup location data and the charging station data by K-means clustering and to determine the optimized distance between the pickup locations and the charging stations. Consequently, we shed light on the number of charging stations that can improve the efficiency of using electric taxis.
