Abstract:
In this paper, we lay out the severity of the opioid crisis by focusing on the current literature of socio-economic addiction factors. We also discuss how opioids have become so prominent in the US. The analysis was done by taking data from one major city per state, totaling 50 cities, and putting them through a K means clustering analysis. Our findings revealed that commute times and average annual income had proportional increase and decrease to their cities opioid death rates. This builds to the current literature of the different quality of life factors that contribute to one’s likelihood to develop an addiction.
