Employing HDF5 File Format for Marine Engine Systems Data Storage

Abstract:
This early-stage paper describes a proposal for a standard approach to store data acquired from communication protocols mostly used in marine engines control systems for propulsion and power generation. The reasons to use Hierarchical Data Format version 5 (HDF5) are explained, and some concrete applications are presented based on real assets.
