Abstract:
Assessing dependability of complex software systems through fault injection is an elaborate process, since their fault tolerance is influenced by the state in which they operate. This paper focuses on the definition of state-driven workloads in fault injection experiments, that is, workloads that bring a system in a given target state to be evaluated. We discuss a framework for the automated generation of state-driven workloads, and provide a preliminary evaluation in the context of the Linux 2.6 OS.
