Abstract:
This paper proposes the use of mediation system as a light weight embedded software module in Distributed Meter Data Management (DMDM) platform in Utility domain. In DMDM platform, a head end system would collect the information from all the connected devices in a house/neighbourhood, perform meaningful processing and forward the processed information to centralized repository (or centralized MDM) system. Mediation as a module would be embedded in each head end system to perform distributed data management and send the limited yet useful information to centralized repository reducing the processing and storage requirement on the whole. Processed data by mediation system at head end system would also be available to the end customer(s) for real time updates rather than waiting for processing of data at centralized MDM in batch process.
