Abstract:
This article presents a practical study of the use of LIDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) data processing to transform point clouds into a three-dimensional city model compatible with CAD (Computer-Aided Design) graphic design systems. The article describes the methodology followed while concentrating on an increase in automation and reviewing the algorithms used. This case study demonstrates the importance of the LIDAR technology for 3D city modelling and notes several applications that may arise, especially in the context of urban and regional planning.
