Using GIS for Searching Medieval Texts – Beginnings of a Project

Abstract:
This paper provides a theoretical introduction presenting possibilities and challenges of correlation between medieval texts and historical maps using GIS on the example of Manuscriptorium Digital Library and historical mappings from the area of Central Europe. It discusses methodological questions connected to this task, as well as organizational aspects of concrete suggested solution.
