Abstract:
Data quality is an important issue for a spatial data, especially for topological relations between geographical features. Errors and inconsistencies found in Geographical Information System (GIS) data often misrepresent topological structure of the dataset and, therefore, geoprocessing and spatial analysis (e.g., network analysis) do not yield reliable results. The focus of this paper is to identify and correct topological errors in vector spatial data, in network data in particular. We present the method for identifying and correcting dangling line in datasets aiming to reconstruct incorrect topological relations between lines and other features. We tested the proposed approach on the real-world energy network data.
