Abstract:
The StayCentered Project at Technische Universität Chemnitz aims for assisting air traffic controllers in stressful traffic situations. Therefore we are seeking to comprehend air traffic controllers’ principles of operation within the dyadic team structure. First exploratory research revealed insights into air traffic controllers’ practices, their information processing (mental models), potential stressors, and related emotional effects. This paper discusses the results and the implications for air traffic controllers’ work in general and the StayCentered project in particular.
