Abstract:
Analyzing human behavior in organizational structures becomes more difficult due to a rising complexity of teamwork processes and interdependencies between team members. The paper proposes an interdisciplinary approach of agent-based modeling and laboratory experiments from organizational psychology to overcome the shortcomings of each discipline and to allow a more detailed and realistic view on teamwork in theory and practice. To demonstrate the benefits of simulating psychological experiments, the replication of a small group experiment for analyzing the distribution of meta-knowledge is conducted. The results from simulation and experiment are plausible.
