Application Design and Profiling of Stream Processing

Abstract:
Stream processing has recently caught the attention of many researchers and engineers, mainly because of the continuous growth of information generated by users. Stream processing platforms allow processing and analyzing real time data, which helps to make decisions faster. In this work, we determine the most relevant tasks performed by the distributed stream processing platform named S4. To this end, we develop a pool of benchmark applications and we make a profiling of their execution using the S4 platform. Results show that the most relevant operations are related to the control and manipulation of threads.
