Cloud Computing: Issues in Data Mobility and Security

Abstract:
Cloud Computing is a generic term for anything that involves delivering hosted services over the internet, based on a pay-as-you-go approach. Cloud Computing offers numerous benefits and, therefore, many large enterprises have embraced the cloud technologies and infrastructures. Vendors are also developing tools and applications to fulfill the demand and tap into the growing market. Like any new technology and paradigm, there are also numerous issues and concerns, including security and availability of data. This paper explores some of the security issues surrounding data location, mobility and availability as well as issues relating to the security of data at rest. The aim is to provide some useful background information for enterprises preparing to take advantage of Cloud Computing paradigm.
