Abstract:
Composite web applications built from reusable components are replacing traditional, monolithic Rich Internet Applications (RIAs). Based on the rising number of smartphones and the increasing usage of mobile applications, composite web applications arrive on mobile devices. While the computing power of the latter rapidly grows, an unsolved problem persists: the limited energy resources of mobile devices. We propose an architecture for mobile energy-adaptive RIAs, which allows for energy optimization by adapting the distribution of components between the server and the device and minimizing the data communication.
