Abstract:
Multi-tenant datacenters have become an important scenario in this age of Cloud Computing. One important element for their effective deployment is the isolation of traffic from each tenant within the datacenter. In this work, we present DCPortalsNg, a solution based on the Software-Defined Network (SDN) approach, which provide effective and scalable isolation for virtualized datacenters. By adopting a per-tenant virtual network description, we can use an SDN controller to rewrite packets that flow through the physical network. That way, we can easily control which virtual machines they can reach. In our implementation, we leverage OpenStack Neutron's network representation to achieve a simple and extensible solution. Experiments show good results with little overhead, even preventing DoS attacks between tenants.
