Abstract:
Machine-to-Machine(M2M)isacommunicationmodel used by devices where data can be exchanged with little or no human intervention. The M2M communication, when applied in the context of LTE networks, can lead to overload and congestion problems due to its intrinsic particularities. Accordingly, in this paper we propose a congestion control approach for Long-Term Evolution (LTE) that reduces the impact over the Human-toHuman (H2H) devices and establishes priority amongst M2M devices through the use of classes. The results obtained through extensive simulations in Network Simulator (NS-3) show that the proposed approach can control the impact over H2H devices, establishes intra and inter-class priority for the devices, reduces the access delay and it is compatible with the LTE network standard.
