Abstract:
It is widely acknowledged that the forthcoming 5G architecture will be essentially based on network slicing, which enables to provide a flexible approach to realize the 5G vision. Thanks to the emerging Network Function Virtualization (NFV) concept, the network functions are decoupled from dedicated hardware devices and realized in the form of software. One of the main technical challenges is the reconfiguration of Virtualized Network Functions (VNFs). In this work, we have modeled the problem through integer linear programming, which is compared to the topological sorting algorithm. Experimental results show the benefits of our model and demonstrate its ability to achieve reconfiguration plans with minimum migration duration and service interruption.
