Towards Knowledge-driven QoE Optimization in Home Gateways

Abstract:
This paper presents the concept of using distributed knowledge components as basis for a Quality of Experience optimization process. We also present simulation results indicating the potential in using this approach for access and home networks. The main novelty of the paper is the presentation of how specific end user preference information can be combined with specific content provider service information, and used as input to an optimization process in a home gateway device. The results show that the effect of doing this is significant.
