Abstract:
A lot of cooperative media access control (MAC) protocols have been proposed to support cooperative communications in wireless networks in the last few years. In this paper, the security vulnerabilities in some cooperative MAC protocols (e.g., COSMIC, VC-MAC, BTAC, and cooperative MAC for IEEE 802.11g) are analyzed. Channel-assisted authentication approach is also discussed to verify entities in cooperative MAC protocols. These analytical results should be significantly useful in the design of efficient authentication solutions for secure, cooperative MAC protocols.
