Abstract:
Adopting standards and reference models for quality software processes is essential to ensure a competitive software industry. However, despite the increasing number of standards and models, only a small proportion of software organizations adopt them. This paper presents a set of support tools for software process appraisal and improvement through their adherence to the CMMI-DEV (Capability Maturity Model Integration for Development) model. The purpose of this set of support tools is to assist software organizations in the implementation of the CMMI-DEV model. It is expected that these tools will be readily adopted by software organizations because they are based on models and standards that are generally accepted. Furthermore, this set of support tools employs free (non-proprietary) technologies to reduce costs.
