Abstract:
The Microservices Architectural Style is one of the latest trends in software development companies. Having highly coupled microservices can lead to latency and network traffic, high interdependency between development teams, among other problems. Being able to measure the coupling between microservices in early phases of the software development life cycle could help the software architects make better decisions when designing. This paper proposes a way of measuring coupling between microservices. This metric is based on the COSMIC measurement method (ISO/IEC 19761). The paper also shows a practical implementation of this metric.
