Design Elements for a Space Information Network Operating System

Abstract:
Space Information Networks (SIN) have quite different characteristics from ordinary distributed systems and clouds. Therefore, the middleware and operating systems governing the service provision in SIN spacecrafts must manage the resources involved, as well as the lifecycle of the components that depend on these resources. This paper goes into detail in the distinguishing characteristics and proposes a blueprint for software design.
