Abstract:
In this paper, a model is proposed where a software agent will be tied to a product during all parts of its life-cycle. This agent will enhance the possibilities of the product itself but will also play a role in collecting important data from the device that can be used by the manufacturer, as well as the end user. The software agent will be the basis for the device to participate in the Internet of Things (IoT) concept. The motivation to use agent technology, the architecture as well as the implementation in two different products are presented.
