Abstract:
Some users of Question and Answer (Q&A) sites use multiple user accounts and attempt to manipulate communications in the site. Manipulated communications, especially, manipulated evaluations, decrease the credibility of the Q&A site. In order to detect manipulated communications in a Q&A site, in this paper, we propose a method of detecting users suspected of using multiple user accounts and manipulating communications in a Q&A site by considering time lags between answer submission and problem resolution. We show our method is useful for detecting inadequate multiple account users and their submissions. In this study, we used the data of Yahoo! chiebukuro, one of the most popular Q&A sites in Japan, for observation and examination.
