Abstract:
An increasing customer usage of Internet services with various devices demands a greater effort on data security and privacy issues, because more and more devices are connected and much personal information are spread more widely. However, in many cases the performance of services is more important than the provision of data security. Therefore, it would be necessary to investigate how the user perception of data security influ-ences the usage of Internet services, which will be analyzed with a adjusted combined approach of the Technology Ac-ceptance Model and the second model of the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology. To support the analysis of this conceptual relationship, an evaluation of the interrelation between the perceived data security importance and the user behavior is also examined. The aim of this paper is to figure out a possible negative impact of the perception of data security and security importance on the usage of Internet services. The goal of the paper is to prove an influence of data security with-in an adjusted conceptual model based on the Technology Acceptance Model and the second model of the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology. In general, a significant relationship between the perceived data security, perceived data security importance and user behavior of Internet services cannot be found. Particularly, some regressive influences are proved in the perceptions of data security importance and usage of specific services. The primary result of this paper is that from the perspective of customers the general perceived data security is significantly most influenced by the perceived email accounts security.
