Abstract:
Personal and professional communication increasingly take place on online platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and Google+. This trend is accompanied by new forms of communication and novel communication dynamics which can no longer be analyzed using conventional methods only. By means of agent-based social simulation, actors in social media can be modeled and their behavior can be investigated. In this work, we use complex agents to model and simulate Twitter users with respect to analyzing communication behavior accompanying a television program. To this end, we present a case study and show how different actor constellations within a population of agents influence the dynamics of this communication.
