Abstract:
Mobile devices support speech interfaces that are inadequate for working with web applications. Providing speech-based interaction with web applications from a mobile device opens up a world of computing to users on the go. We have developed a mobile browser that allows users to easily interact with SpeechWeb applications from their mobile device in a hands-free mode. To overcome the limitations of mobile devices, a new method of parsing speech has been developed. The result is a more accessible web, allowing users to do some of the more interactive tasks, even while traveling, that traditionally required a personal computer.
