Abstract:
Wireless sensor nodes can detect component wear and tear just in time. Such sensor networks can allow for waiting to overhaul delay the overhauling of machines until it is really absolutely necessary. This means that time-consuming and expensive downtime can be avoided. A sensor network for the condition monitoring of industrial machines has been developed in the publicly funded project ECoMoS. The implemented sensor nodes are able to predict machine failures until three months in advance.
