Abstract:
On-line search engines are a key component of all on-line activity and have evolved through the years. Despite search engine advances, users today may need to execute multiple searches prior to reaching their desired search results. However, executing multiple searches in an effort to do so can be time consuming and may not lead to the best results. Leveraging complex search interfaces, including Boolean filters, can exacerbate the problem if the interface is too confusing and unfamiliar to the user. To help overcome these issues, we introduce Search++, a new search interface that reduces the steps for a common user to reach their desired search results, through the use of latest Web technologies and advanced visualizations.
