Abstract:
Nowadays, mobile devices are powerful enough to accomplish most of the tasks previously accomplished only by personal computers; that includes file management. However, on many devices the file deletion operation misleads the user into thinking that the file has been permanently removed, when that is usually not the case. Also, with the increasing use of encryption, attackers have been directed to weaker targets. One of them is the recovery of supposedly deleted data from flash memories. This paper describes a way to integrate secure deletion technologies in an encrypted file system in Android smartphones.
