Identifying Beginner Problems in Expressing Domain Semantics when Developing Ontologies

Abstract:
Ontologies as a knowledge representation method are already being applied in various areas. Therefore, this method is introduced to new developers constantly. The paper investigates possibility for overlooking ontology features that can enable users to properly represent semantics of the domain of interest. In initial research, ontology development using frames was considered and evaluation was made based on criteria connected to classes, hierarchy and attributes. Possible beginner oversights are identified. Suggestions considering chosen semantic criteria are also described.
