Abstract:
This paper presents a novel tiered sensor networking architecture that employs advanced Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) technologies for military operations. This architecture results in an agile surveillance system with a focus on improved operational flexibility and usability. Performance measurements using an in-house simulator are provided using two different scenarios to demonstrate the system's great agility and expandability, operating from possibly a small-scaled single cluster to a network of many chained hop-to-hop connections offering a large coverage area.
