Abstract:
Considering that analytic tools are not completely suitable to analyze supply chain and distribution networks, simulation is considered a better alternative. Some theories about discrete simulation have been suggested, especially those related to the use of standardized models and the use of strategic planning process in simulation. This paper presents a standardized simulation model based on a simulation programming language rather than a graphical simulator, to be used as a decision-making tool for the top management due to its strategic approach. The model is validated in a real business case, where tangible results were achieved.
