Abstract:
Using the component-based software development, an application is constructed from individual reusable components providing particular functionalities. The testing of their functionality, their quality of services, and their extra-functional properties is important, especially when each component can be created by a different manufacturer. We developed the SimCo simulation tool, which enables simulation testing of software components directly without the necessity to create their (potentially incorrect) models. The course of the testing is described in so-called scenarios. In this paper, the semi-automated generation of the scenarios based on the analysis of the interfaces of the particular software components and their mutual interactions is described. The described ideas demonstrate the usefulness of the simulation for the component-based software development.
