Abstract:
Process optimisation usually leads to a nonconvex mathematical problem, which can be solved in an iterative way by using relevant information about the gradients of the objective function and constraints. In this way, the use of automatic-differentiation tools (AD) is recommended to efficiently obtain such information from a system modelled in steady state. This paper deals with the integration problem between some existent powerful modelling & simulation software and tools for numerical optimal control. The approach here is programming a communication interface between EcosimPro (modelling), CppAD (AD for C++ code) and IPOPT (Interior-Point Optimiser). The effectiveness of the proposed combined tool has been tested in an industrial evaporation process.
