Abstract:
Traditionally sensitive silicate membranes for pH electrodes are fabricated by glassblowers. Recently, because of a more effective fabrication in certain cases, also so-called blowing machines are in use. In this way neither miniaturization nor a planar arrangement of the sensors can be realized. Pulsed laser deposition (PLD) could provide ideal conditions to reduce the above-mentioned drawbacks. In this contribution first results of using this technology for the fabrication of planar glass based electrochemical pH sensors are demonstrated, whereby the characterization of the amorphous silicate glass before and after the PLD process is in the focus of this article.
