A Shape Grammar with Feedback Generative Model for the Design of Compact Microstrip Antennas

Abstract:
A shape grammar based model that generates functional initial microstrip antenna designs is developed. The functionality of the designs is ensured with the inclusion of a feedback mechanism that influences the rule selection process. The grammar itself decomposes a complex shape into a chain of rectangles, whose parameters are used in a mathematical formula model that makes up the feedback mechanism. This approach to antenna design is demonstrated with the generation of compact microstrip antenna structures.
