Abstract:
Algorithms are necessary to reconfigure pixel antennas in real time. These algorithms must carry out an efficient search to yield the electrical specifications demanded by radio transceivers. To address this problem, an algorithm that combines a random search method with a shape grammar model is proposed. The performance of the algorithm is compared to a Genetic Algorithm with and without a pruning mechanism. Results demonstrate that the algorithm goes through a relatively very small number of iterations to converge to the antenna specifications and consequently outperforms the genetic-based searches.
