Abstract:
This paper presents an analysis of the impact that the parameterization of the CSMA/CA algorithm (employed by IEEE 802.15.4 Medium Access Layer) has on the consumption of ZigBee motes. For this purpose, the study introduces an analytical model that permits to compute the mean drain current of low duty cycle sensor motes. The results show that the energy required by the re-association process required after a packet loss cannot be neglected when setting the values of CSMA/CA parameters
