Abstract:
The Internet of Things (IoT) is a new technology that is used today in all sectors. This increases as well as the diversity of devices and their working environments. These latters have created new challenges for the Internet of Things. To address this, many applications protocols were adopted and developed for devices with constrained resources. Research efforts in communication support for Internet of Things scenarios have overlooked many challenges, such as real-time interaction, security, interoperability, the performance and robustness of IoT systems. This paper surveys communication protocols divided, according to their goals along with their merits, demerits, and suitability towards IoT applications. We summarize the challengesof communication protocols as well as some relevant solutions.
