Abstract:
Business process models are important for Information Systems and the digitalization of the workplace. The Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN) is the de- facto standard in this domain. Therefore, creating BPMN business process models that are understandable to all stakeholders is an important task. The Web provides many business process model examples. These examples are provided by enterprises and consultants who offer technical solutions (i.e., business process modeling tools) or consulting services. Since such models are provided on the Web as introductory learning examples, such examples can also influence novice business process modelers. Therefore, it is worth to examine if such examples have the same quality standards as suggested in the literature. Related to the area of business process modeling, this paper therefore focuses on the analysis of such BPMN examples. Particularly, it focuses on the labels of model elements since these labels represent the relationship of the process model to a certain domain.
