Abstract:
This paper reports on the investigation of a support system for Japanese extensive reading. This system was developed for Japanese learners outside the classroom to learn Japanese through e-learning by reading digital books with autonomy. The results of the questionnaire, and the amount of reading, video clips, and comment board are useful functions for self-study. Additionally, the findings suggest that, unless there are no discussions among learners, reading communities are useful in that learners are made aware of other learners’ presence.
