Abstract:
Gamification in education is not a new idea and has been investigated in the academic research field in the past years. In this paper, the latest advances of this topic have been discussed. The adaptive gamification approach has been one of the main topics in gamification in education lately and many different approaches have been proposed to achieve the best possible outcome. These approaches will be mentioned, and a comparison between them will follow, to identify which one has been the most effective yet. Also, the idea of adding narration to gamification in education, will be discussed as well. After this survey, it is clear that research in this area has not been matured yet, and there are many aspects of gamification in education that need more attention, to improve the state of it in the education criteria, and thus making it more viable.
